Vermeer city walkJohannes Vermeer was one of the most important painters of the 17th century together with Rembrand van Rijn and Frans Hals. Johannes Vermeer was born in Delft and worked all his life in Delft. In a Vermeer city walk we will show you the following places:
Although the buildings are lost it gives a very good impression, where he did grow up and worked. For the people, who have read the book of Tracy Chevalier "Girl with a Pearl Earring", we can show the neighborhood described in the book inclusive the Meat Hall. We can advise to combine a Vermeer city walk with a visit to the Vermeer Centrum, where you find a lot of information about Johannes Vermeer. All his paintings are shown, but unfortunately they are all copies. We can combine this city walk with a guided tour through the museum Lambert van Meerten where you can a see a style room resembling the one you see in his painting The city walk is also to combine with a guided tour through the museum Paul Tétar van Elven, where you can get a good idea about the house of a painter. Delftware city walkIn the 17th century Delftware was developed and is still today world famous. A city walk about this subject has to lead to a factory, where you can see the way it is made and painted by the artists by hand. A visit to De Candelaer is good to combine, because it is in the historic centre. De Candelaer is a small factory and if you like to combine it with a visit to a bigger factory, we can go to the Royal Delft or De Delftse Pauw. This is a good walk, but it can also be done by boat, horse tram or bus. The city walk is to combine with a guided tour through the museum Lambert van Meerten with a nice collection of Delft Blue tiles. It is also possible to combine this with a guided tour through the museum Paul Tétar van Elven, where you will find a very nice collection of porcelain (not Delftware).
